Message From the Pastor
Dear Members of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church,
Grace and peace be with you all. As we come together in this season of hope, I want to share with you a message that is close to my heart - the power of hope in our lives.
Hope is a divine gift bestowed upon us by our loving Heavenly Father. It is the anchor that keeps us steadfast in the face of uncertainty, the light that shines through the darkest moments, and the assurance that we are never alone in our journey. As we celebrate the 195th anniversary of our church, let us reflect on the countless times hope has carried us through trials and tribulations, inspiring us to keep pressing forward.
Throughout history, Cedar Grove UMC has been a beacon of hope in our community, shining the light of Christ's love to all who seek solace and strength. We have witnessed the transformative power of hope as we walk alongside each other in times of joy and sorrow, supporting and encouraging one another with compassion and grace.
In these challenging times, hope becomes even more precious. As we face the uncertainties of the world around us, let us remember that our hope is not rooted in worldly circumstances but in the unchanging promises of our Lord. Let us look to the future with confidence, knowing that God's plan for us is one of hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
As your pastor, I urge each one of you to hold on to hope in every aspect of your life. When doubts arise, let hope be your shield. When fear knocks at your door, let hope be your refuge. When the path ahead seems unclear, let hope be your guide. And when the storms of life rage, let hope be your anchor.
Let us also be messengers of hope to those around us. In a world filled with despair, let our words and actions bring the hope of Christ to those in need. Let us share the hope that has sustained us through the years and invite others to experience the life-transforming love of Jesus.
As we continue to serve together as one family united in faith, let hope be the tie that binds us. Together, we can face any challenge, overcome any obstacle, and achieve great things for the glory of God.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13).
With love and blessings,
Pastor Singleton

Pastor Anthony Singleton a native of Brooklyn, New York, relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 1987. His early years were spent attending First AME Zion Church in Bedford Stuyvesant, NY along with his parents, Lois and Cecil Singleton and older brother, Randy. Pastor Singleton relocated to Atlanta where he reconnected with the love of his life, the former Jeaninne Roy, whom he married in 1998.
Pastor Singleton and Jeaninne united with Columbia Drive UMC in 1997 under the leadership of Rev. Donald K. Reed, where they both became active in the various ministries of the church. Pastor Singleton served as Trustee Board Chair, the Finance committee and SPRC. It was several years later under the tutelage of Dr. James “Chico” Fincher that Pastor Singleton accepted the call to ministry. In addition to his studies under the direction of Dr. Chico Fincher, Pastor Singleton attended a 72 hr. Walk to Emmaus retreat and soon after, entered the UMC Candidacy program and began a much closer walk with the Lord.
Pastor Singleton also attended Lay Speaking classes and began teaching bible study and serving in the Pulpit whenever needed.
One of Pastor Singleton’s passions is working with the Youth and while at Columbia Drive, he spearheaded “TGM” The Gospel Minutes, a Sunday morning worship service designed solely for the Youth. Pastor Singleton continued working with the Youth each summer during Vacation Bible School. He was also actively involved in the Youth version of Walk to Emmaus called Chrysalis, and was the Leader for the very first boys walk.
Another passion of Pastor Singleton’s is the Kairos Prison ministry. Serving and watching how GOD works with men who are broken and who come to Christ is what maintains his love for this ministry. Pastor Singleton also became a Leader for one of their weekend walks.
Up until his appointment with Cedar Grove UMC, Pastor Singleton has spent the last 8 years in the pulpit.
Pastor Singleton has served as a guest speaker at several UMC churches in and out of the ADOX district. In 2010, while away in Afghanistan, Pastor Singleton was active during all church services and provided devotions when needed.
Overall, Pastor Singleton’s walk has been influenced by his continued growth, deep faith, love of God and quiet way of helping others.
His favorite scripture is Psalm 46:10, Be Still and Know that I am GOD!
